About

I speak up when something isn't right. I keep reason and respect top of mind when doing so, and that's the philosophy I bring to every cockpit I sit in. A crew is only safe if its most junior member is willing to be heard. I draw this outlook from history, especially the working crews and riders who wrote their own rules and looked out for each other when no one else could. At home, I'm a husband and a builder who makes the most of what's on hand. I built the coop for our small backyard flock mostly from reclaimed materials, but it's the fence out front that gets more compliments from the neighbors than anything else I've made.

Sure of the source

When a question makes me hesitate, I say so, slow down, and keep looking through the published sources until I find the answer and can show where it's written. With students, that means when we don't know, we look it up together.
